So at todays BBQ, my relatives came over and my aunt asked me, "So what subject do you have for exams this year?", "None".
Everyone's frozen.
Their kids obviously did ALP/VCE subjects in year 10 and then did 3+4 in year 11. And they probs thought it was normal to start early.
Thats why the relatives were frozen.
They question me, "Why arent you doing any subjects for VCE this year?????".
I roll my eyes, my dad explains the whole story- my timetable clashed so i had to give up Business Management.
Then they go, "Ohhh..Ok, so youll do 6 subjects for exams next year yes?", "No".
Far oot!
Subjects im taking next year that count to my VCE score: English, Further Maths, Eco, Business and I.T Apps.
Yes, an asian like me is only taking 5 exams.
I don't understand the big deal? So what if im not Viet as a subject anymore. So what if i dont do an ALP. They make it out like im going to die or something!!
My dad starts joking about me and how i watch at least 4 movies a day yadda yadda. He says, "She says that she can do all this next year but i dont get how." Then he rambles on, teases me and i swear, my head was going to explode with curse words and dish breaking.
The way my dad teases me in front of my family and other relatives makes me go from innocent little teen to movie assassinator.
I swear, by next year, I'll prove them all wrong. I will try to get myself on that top 20 list.
And truthfully, i dont understand how people see me as the studious asian type.
I swear, im the most laid back asian ever! You think i do my work 24/7 and study till the night has turned to day? You think i actually like to study? NO. Do i study my ass off? NO! Do you think i care about my marks? Well yeah i do but the point is that stop stereotyping me before you actually get to know me!
Goes to show in media class- i surprised the bloody whole class: I was in the musical, i can sing, IM DIRTY MINDED, i dont care! After the people got to know me, it made me love media class. It's no longer the class i hate now!
